Chipotle Spice Seasoning Blend
Chipotle Peppers have been an extremely popular part of the food culture for some time. And they will most likely be around for a long time to come. Chipotle peppers are smoked jalapeño peppers after they have turned red. Most commonly you will find them in a can with adobo sauce, a kinda Mexican barbecue sauce made from chili peppers, herbs, and vinegar.
Both the chipotles and adobo sauce are a little on the spicy side. But they have tremendous flavor and will greatly enhance your dish. The smoky, earthly taste with that touch of spicy heat makes this popular in Mexican and Spanish cuisines.
I tried many different variations of spice blends until I found one that that is just amazing! I continued do tweak it for a bit, I finally found the perfect combination of spices. Without a doubt, this is the best chipotle pepper blend I’ve ever had!
Ground chipotle is simply the same smoked jalapeños that have been dried and ground into a powder. It’s perfect for adding a little smokiness and spice to a dish!
Chipotle Powder – Pro Tips
Undoubtedly, most of you reading this love chipotle flavor as I do. I was so excited when I saw a bottle of chipotle powder! I right away cooked some chicken I intended to use for fajitas. So I seasoned a couple chicken breast with salt and pepper and coated each side with a generous amount of chipotle powder! My mouth was watering and my wife was right there with me, excited just as much as I was. If not more!
However . . . it only took about a minute and the kitchen was filled with smoke. We couldn’t breath from the spice in the air, and it was burning our lungs! That will certainly be learning experience I’ll never forget. Now, 20+ years later, I know better.
After that nightmarish event, I leaned that Chipotle powder can’t be used to cook with by itself like what I did. It’s the same with cayenne pepper, also. Too much will smoke you out and gag you. That’s when I started experimenting with different blends.

FAQ’s for Chipotle Cheddar Chicken Breast
I recommend using and airtight jar like the one you see in the picture. It is recommended to keep seasoning blends for only 6 months as they tend to lose the quality of flavor. However, I usually keep mine much longer.
I have used this blend primarily on chicken. However, I have used it in other applications. Here’s a few that I have tried that are amazing: grilled shrimp, chipotle shrimp tacos, fish, in a quick mayo/sour cream dip and salad dressing. Get creative with it!
