I promise . . . there will be no leftovers!
Restaurant Quality Whipped Cream
This recipe is one that I have guarded for awhile. I love to watch as my friends’ eyes roll to the back of their heads then close, with their heads tilted back slightly, and the spoon stuck in their mouths and they utter a delighted, “Mmmmmm!” This is always a huge hit! I named it Best Homemade Whipped Cream, not just because it’s the best I’ve ever had, but because that’s exactly what all of my friends and family say!
I got this idea from the restaurant I used to work at in New Jersey. Before each shift, the waiters had to do prep work. It was amazing because no one had any assigned task, but we just got the work done. Just a few thing we did were sort the berries, make the whipped butter, polish the flatware, cut the lemon twists for the espresso, and . . . make the whipped cream!
I’m sure there was a recipe somewhere, but I was never shown one. I was just shown how to make it. each night, I always tried to be the one to make the whipped cream. And I usually got to because everyone loved how I made it. There were no measurements, just taste. And this was a 3-4 star restaurant (depending on the critic’s mood) just outside New York City. But it always turned out a-ma-zing!
The Best Homemade Whipped Cream
Now, I’ve had homemade whipped cream before that was really good. But it usually only has heavy cream and sugar. Some have even used vanilla extract to add a little more flavor. But what makes this the Best Homemade Whipped Cream is a simple secret ingredient. The secret ingredient is honey. Yes, honey! The honey rockets the whipped cream from a blah 5 or 6 straight to an automatic 10! There is no sweetener that comes close to the unique flavor of honey.
This took me awhile to come up with an actual recipe. Even at home I just added a little sugar, a little honey, tasted it, and added kept adding a little more at a time until it tasted just right. So, again, measurements? What are those? LOL! It took a few tries, but I think I finally nailed it!

- Heavy Whipping Cream
- White Sugar
- Honey
How Is Best Homemade Whipped Cream Made?
- Pour the heavy whipping cream, white sugar, and honey into a metal mixing bowl.
- Using a hand blender or stand-up mixer on blend on medium speed for about 2-3 minutes. Turn off the blender/mixer and scrape the sides with a rubber spatula.
- Resume blending on medium-high speed for another 3-5 minutes or until the cream is thick. Be careful not to over blend as you’ll turn it into butter.
Pro Tip: If you do not have either a hand blender or stand up mixer, you can use a whisk and muscle!
A Second Cream from This Recipe
My favorite way to have this Best Homemade Whipped Cream is over fresh berries. However, at the restaurant we made 2, yes, 2 different creams. Besides the fully whipped cream, we also made what we called “Sweet Cream.” That is what we served over the fresh berries. It was so decadent! After everything was in the stand up mixer and we had it mixing, we would stop the mixer when the cream started to tighten up and thicken. It was at a stage that it could be poured. And the really cool thing about it is, they do taste slightly different!
To make the sweet cream, simply mix it for a total of about 5-6 minutes. You will need to eyeball it a bit because the temperature of the bowl will affect how fast the heavy cream thickens and sets up. But you can make it one way & WOW your friends and family, then make it the other and WOW them again! Shhh! They’ll never know if you don’t tell them! It’ll be our secret!
