Sliders Four Ways
I know i’m not alone in saying I love sliders! Growing up and spending most of my life in New Jersey, I had White Castle burgers all the time. I remember my father taking me to the one in Clifton when I was a kid. I was hooked with the first bite!
Sliders are awesome because you can have a bunch or just a few. If you’re having friends over for say a cookout or a football game, they can snack on these guys for hours.
Which Buns Should I Use?
I use two kinds of slider buns. I like potato buns so I go for Martin’s. But more often I will go for King’s Hawaiian Roll. King’s Hawaiian have a sweetness that others don’t that make these sliders a bit tastier.
French Dip Sliders
French Dip sandwiches are a classic beef sandwich that I absolutely love. The beef is slow cooked and, as the name suggests, the sandwich is dipped in a side of au jus. These sliders as a super quick and easy spin off that awesome marriage.
Onions are cooked in butter until soft then simmered in beef stock. The beef is deli bought roast beef from your local grocery store. I also use Baby Swiss because it has a more delicate flavor than traditional Swiss and I want the beef flavor to stand out.
I then pour the mix over the sliders and add the toppings. The beef flavors used in the onion and the topping give these the au jus presence.
Cuban Sliders
Cuban sandwiches are another classic. Living in Florida, pressed Cubans are everywhere. This is my spin on that.
To make these quick and simple, I use Domestic ham from the deli. I also use Havarti Cheese. It adds a subtle additional flavor to the slider.
The bottoms have a Dijon mustard mix and the tops have a mayo and yellow mustard mix. The two different mustards add a nice contrast with each bite. And you can’t forget the crisp, vinegary taste of the dill pickle!
Buffalo Chicken Sliders
Buffalo chicken sliders are certainly nothing new. But my take on these classics make your life so much more simple.
I use frozen breaded chicken breast. I know, I know . . . frozen? Yes. At times we need to take a shortcut. And there are some good tasting options out there.
Simply cook the chicken according to the instructions on the package and you’ll be mostly done!
The buffalo sauce is also a favorite, but with my twist. I use Frank’s RedHot Wings Sauce. There are none that I’ve tried that are any better. However, I add Hidden Valley Ranch powder mix. We use this a couple times a week so we buy a bottle of it. My ratio is 1 cup of buffalo sauce with 2 tablespoons of ranch mix.
As for the blue cheese Dressing, it’s always my wife’s Best Homemade Blue Cheese Dressing.
Bacon Cheeseburger Sliders
I’ve tried a bunch of different ways to make cheeseburger sliders. Some were dry, some were crumbly. I finally found a way I like that is also easy for you as well.
I brown the beef with the seasonings, kinda like taco meat. Instead of topping the meat with the cheese, I mix it into the meat. This method holds the meat together and give a consistent flavor throughout.
